At the Prominent Group we’re passionate about environmental sustainability. Unlike many printers, we take active steps towards alleviating environmental impacts through responsible waste management and vegetable-based inks. We look at this as being part of our duty of care towards the natural environment that sustains us all.
Waste Management
Ever wondered what we do with our excess materials? The majority of the Prominent Group’s waste products are sorted and separated at their source for environmentally friendly recycling and re-use. Common recyclables include aluminium printing plates and containers, CDs, cardboard, computers, monitors, glass, ink tins, plastic containers, polythene packaging and paper.
We use Chemsal, a chemical treatment company, to dispose of any leftover chemical wastes and un-recyclable containers. This process is carefully monitored by and compliant with the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA).
Vegetable Based Ink
Traditional printing inks are mineral –based and contribute to the globe’s ever increasing greenhouse gas emission problems. Ninety nine percent of the inks we use at the Prominent Group are vegetable based. Vegetable based inks are advantageous over traditional printing inks as they are made from renewable resources such as soy and linseed oil. Vegetable based inks are just one more way in which we help keep our planet healthy.
Computer to Plate
Our use of advanced CtP systems helps us eliminate the need for film and chemicals within the pre-press process. Today, all of our printing plates are CtP, which means fewer pollutants.
